Join us for a private tour of Winton MFG Compost Works, the region’s newest composting facility. Robbette Schmit will walk us through the process and technology used to turn the area’s food and yard waste into compost. Expect a hands-on experience and beautiful views as you learn about the facility and the organisms that help transform waste into a soil resource. Expect to leave with a greater understanding about why food and yard waste composting is so important to the sustainability of the region.
All participants will receive a bag of compost made at Winton using food and yard waste from surrounding towns and businesses. Tour size is limited, so registration is required.
Tour requirements: We recommend bringing a jacket as it may be windy and wearing sturdy shoes.
