Join MATTER and AVIA for the first event in the Health System Innovations series, focused on how startups and innovation advocates can move from concepting through implementation to advance new approaches in our health systems.

The first session focuses on how chief innovation officers can work across their health system to develop alignment and, ultimately, champions for change. Join our distinguished panelists: chief digital officer of Presbyterian Healthcare, Brian Beardmore, chief information officer of Henry Ford Health, Paul Browne, chief consumer officer of Ballad Health, Taylor Hamilton, and chief information and digital officer of LifeBridge, Tressa Springmann, in a conversation led by Senior Vice President of AVIA Amanda DeMano.

The conversation will provide an overview of key stakeholders and strategies for both teams tasked with innovation deployments in collaboration with startups alongside startups to help create successful implementations.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR

Amanda DeMano

Senior Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, AVIA

Amanda is the senior vice president for strategic partnerships at AVIA. She owns the development of products and delivery of services that accelerate specific digital initiatives for AVIA’s members. In addition, she serves as subject matter expert for a variety of topics across AVIA’s catalog. With over twenty years of IT experience in service of provider organizations, she offers a breadth of expertise to AVIA’s network members and consulting clients in the application of digital to propel organizational strategy and implementing effective governance and support models for long term success.

Prior to her role at AVIA, Amanda spent twelve years at UChicago Medicine where she was executive director of IT strategic programs. She also held previous leadership roles with Deloitte Consulting, LLC and other academic and community health provider organizations.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS

Brian Beardmore

Chief Digital Officer, Presbyterian Healthcare Services

Brian Beardmore serves as the chief digital officer for Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brian brings over 28 years of healthcare technology experience in digital optimization and transformation, leading and executing Presbyterian’s digital strategy to improve access to care, enhance the customer experience, increase efficiency and cost savings and increase revenue.

Before Presbyterian, Brian served as administrative director of technical services for Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, Texas.

Paul Browne

Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer, Henry Ford Health System

Paul Browne joined Henry Ford Health System in February 2018. He is the system’s senior vice president and chief information officer, overseeing all aspects of information technology across the entire health system. Previously, Browne was the chief information officer and senior vice president of applied informatics for Tenet Healthcare, where he was responsible for all aspects of information services across the publicly traded healthcare system. Prior to that, he served as chief information officer and senior vice president for strategic program development for Trinity Health.

Browne specializes in leading transformational change in complex organizations and the development of business and clinical intelligence capabilities across large enterprises. In addition to the delivery side, Browne has also extensive experience in the insurance sector, with both SelectCare and Accenture.

During more than three decades in information technology, Browne has been named to ComputerWorld’s list of “Top 100 CIOs.” He has also been named a “Top 50 Innovator” across all industries and “Top 5 Innovator” in healthcare by InformationWeek. Additionally, Browne has authored numerous articles and lectured extensively at national symposiums focusing on IT strategy and innovation.

Taylor Hamilton

Chief Consumer Officer, Ballad Health

Taylor Hamilton is a seasoned professional serving as the senior vice president and chief consumer officer at Ballad Health, a not-for-profit integrated healthcare delivery system consisting of 21 hospitals in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, including a dedicated children’s hospital, several community hospitals, three critical access hospitals, a behavioral health hospital, an addiction treatment facility, long-term care facilities, home care and hospice services, retail pharmacies, outpatient services and a comprehensive medical management corporation.

With a strong commitment to delivering unparalleled customer experiences, Taylor leads a dedicated team focused on aligning every aspect of the organization with the customers’ needs.

Overseeing the development and implementation of marketing strategies, communication initiatives, community and physician relations, media relations, consumer contact center operations and digital strategy, Taylor ensures that all efforts align with the health system’s strategic goals. Through close collaboration with executive leadership, service line managers and other stakeholders, Taylor ensures the organization’s initiatives align seamlessly with the business strategy.

Tressa Springmann

Chief Information and Digital Officer, LifeBridge

Tressa Springmann has been chief information officer for LifeBridge Health since 2012 also becoming its chief digital officer in 2020.

LifeBridge Health, an over $2.2B in revenue not for profit system, provides patients with a continuum of care as a partner for lifelong health with various joint ventures in assisted living, subacute, retail pharmacy, urgent care, fitness centers and more. As one of the largest and most comprehensive providers of health-related services to the people of Maryland, LifeBridge Health has the technology, skills and expertise of an academic system with the warmth and personal attention of a community continuum of care.

Tressa is on the Board of CHIME, The College of Health Information Management Executives, and vice chair of the Shared Services Committee and chairman of the Technology Committee for CRISP, Maryland’s State Health Information Exchange (HIE), has led their national network committee and a member of the Premier Member Technology Committee (MTIC). She is proud of Lifebridge’s 2019 and 2020 ‘Most Wired’ status. Recent industry recognition includes Becker’s 2019 Top Women CIO, 2019 HIMSS Top Twenty, 2020, 2021, HIMSS 2020 Six Females to know in Healthcare IT and multiple years as Becker’s Top 100 CIOs including 2022.
