Speaker Bios:

Tim Taylor: Tim revamped the Washington SBDC’s Market Intelligence Research program for student interns in 2012 and was the research supervisor for 10 years. The program was recognized in 2013 as a Best Practice by America’s SBDC and in 2014 was a finalist for the University Economic Development Association Award of Excellence in the category of Talent Development.

In addition to doing market research to support small business growth across the state, the Market Intelligence Research team under Tim’s direction created several workbooks and training programs to support business resiliency and cybersecurity training. In 2020, the team’s business resiliency guide was presented nationwide in two Google webinars to a combined audience of more than 5,000. Tim has mentored more than 100 students who have gone on to careers including public service, market research, engineering, law, business consulting, training, and marketing.

Currently the SBDC’s cybersecurity training coordinator, Tim and his team have presented 24 cybersecurity training webinars over the past 18 months.

Prior to joining the SBDC, Tim spent more than 40 years in risk management. He was certified in Emergency Management and Incident Command through FEMA and holds a certification in Cybersecurity from ISC2. Tim is also a Certified Global Business Professional.

Rob Ruder, founder of IDIC Designs, LLC, has over 20 years of experience as a fractional CIO for small businesses. He advises and delivers cybersecurity, growth, and resilience solutions for small business owners overwhelmed by technology problems. He encourages every client to choose EFFECTIVENESS first because EFFICIENCY comes with time and experience. Rob is also an Adjunct Faculty member of the Gonzaga School of Business Administration where he passes on his knowledge to the next generations of business professionals.

Peter Marchel of Marchel & Associates Risk Consulting is a licensed surplus lines brokerage assisting insurance agencies, financial institutions, organizations and law firms in mitigating insurance risk. Clients range from single producer agencies to some of the largest brokerage firms in the world.
